About

Rachel Jonas, Ph.D.
Co-Founder

Rachel brings decades of research, data analysis, and science communication experience to the fight for disaster mortgage relief. She holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA and has spent her career translating complex data into clear, actionable insights - including as a Senior UX Researcher at Meta on their Integrity team, where her work shaped products used by millions worldwide.

After losing her home in the January 2025 Palisades Fire, Rachel, alongside her husband and co-founder Rob, became deeply engaged in supporting displaced homeowners. Through Disaster Mortgage Relief, she works closely with affected families to surface patterns in their experiences, strengthen community engagement, and help translate those insights into clearer communication and more effective solutions. She continues this work from Tennessee, where her family relocated to save toward their rebuild.

Robert Fagnani, Co-Founder

Rob brings deep experience in financial markets, data-driven strategy, and systems-level problem solving to the fight for disaster mortgage relief. He began his career as a credit investor at Morgan Stanley, where he managed large fixed-income and derivative portfolios, and later served as a Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), leading work in marketing and AI. He is also the co-founder of Formation, an AI-powered marketing platform acquired by BCG, and currently serves as a Partner at Dolabra Digital.

Following the loss of his home in the January 2025 Palisades Fire, Rob, together with Rachel, began organizing affected homeowners and engaging policymakers to address gaps in recovery. Through Disaster Mortgage Relief, he focuses on helping translate the challenges faced by displaced families into practical, scalable approaches. He continues this work from Tennessee while rebuilding.
